Don't you just hate belly bloat?  
Why do we get it anyway and what can we do about it?  
You want to go out to a party or with friends and you want to be able to zip up your favorite jeans or little black dress. 
But you are worried about accomplishing that before you go. And I'm not talking about a few extra pounds here. It plagues most of us from time to time. 
If it's not a medical condition it's intestinal gases not "water weight."

So what causes gas to accumulate and wreak havoc on how you FEEL and LOOK. 

1. AVOID CONSTIPATION. Too little fiber and physical activity can lead to constipation.

2. RULE OUT WHEAT ALLERGIES OR LACTOSE INTOLERANCE. Confirm allergiers and in-tolerances with a doctor.

3. DON'T EAT TOO FAST.  Eating quickly and not chewing your food well can cause air swallowing that leads to bloating. Slow down and enjoy food. Some call it "being mindful". Your meals should take 30 minutes. Remember digestion begins in the mouth and you can decrease bloating just by chewing your food more.


4. DON'T OVERDO CARBONATED DRINKS.  The fizz in carbonated drinks (even the diet ones) can cause a large amount of gas to get trapped in your belling.  Drink water flavored with lemon, lime or cucumber. I just drink it straight. 

5.DON'T OVERDO CHEWING GUM. Chewing gum can lead to swallowing air which can cause bloating. Substitute with healthy, high fiber snack.

6. WATCH OUT FOR SUGAR-FREE FOODS. These contain too much sugar alcohol in artificially sweetened foods and drinks.

7. LIMIT SODIUM. Highly processed foods are high in sodium. Look at labels and buy no more than 500 mg of sodium per serving in any product.

8. GO SLOW WITH BEANS AND GASSY VEGGIES. Don't avoid them just go slow on them. veggies are cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts and cauliflower. 

9. EAT 6 SMALLER MEALS INSTEAD OF 3 LARGER ONES. Eating more frequently can help control blood sugar, manage hunger, and keep you free of the bloated feeling.

10. TRY ANTI-BLOATING FOODS, DRINKS AND ESSENTIAL OILS. Peppermint tea or peppermint oil in hot drinks, ginger, pineapple parsley and yogurts containing probiotics like Greek Yogurt.
