DEPRESSION'S MASK

PUTTING UP A GOOD FACE
ISN'T ALWAYS EASY
IT'S ABOUT ACCEPTANCE

Often put on a type of MASK on our FACE that "we feel" is acceptable for all others to see. At times the person behind the mask is experiencing DEPRESSION and others tend to judge some of their behavior as passive and disinterested. That could push the one depressed to be even more isolated. It can create a chemical change in the body that is hard to fight.

Yesterday I attended a class on "Acceptance" taught by a young adult in her mid-twenties. She shared that as a teenager she had major depression. She slowly became suicidal, her parents took her out of high school and she was in treatment for three years. She never felt "enough" while she compared herself to her sisters & others who she felt were more confident, prettier and slimmer. Those feelings drove her into depression. Her recovery was long, difficult and she became addicted to anti-depressants. Finally her body's chemicals were beginning to re-balance. She started being with her family more often and becoming more social. One such time was with her family at a Chinese restaurant and a person came up to her and said, "You are really beautiful!" That simple statement uplifted her and her point was that we should all realize, "that it's always the right time to let someone feel appreciated & ACCEPTED."
And we should!

Keeping ourselves grounded, have clarity and being more "ACCEPTING" of ourself as well of others is important. To have a deeper sense of calmness and more feelings of good & peace helps us look outside of ourselves and throw away the mask of depression. We can help those feelings surface by the daily use of:
